Droves of Taiwanese tourists are heading to Japan, where most border controls were lifted on Tuesday.
At an international airport in Taiwan, travelers formed long lines at check-in counters from early morning.
A major travel agency says the weaker yen is making Japan even more appealing. It says Osaka is the most heavily booked destination for overseas flights, followed by Tokyo.
A man heading to Osaka with his mother and girlfriend said he is overjoyed. He said he's been unable to leave Taiwan for years, so he wants to relieve his stress.
A woman on her way for a family trip in Kyushu, southwestern Japan, said she spent the night at the airport to board an early flight.
Taiwan is also due to ease entry controls on Thursday. The local tourism industry says it's looking forward to seeing an increase in Japanese visitors.
